It may seem a contradiction but the hottest restaurant in town right now is Chill
The Main Beach establishment on Tedder Avenue was the biggest winner at last night's 2009 Restaurant & Catering Queensland HOSTPLUS Gold Coast Awards for Excellence, when restaurants were honoured at the Holiday Inn, Surfers Paradise.
Themed in keeping with Queensland's 150th Anniversary of statehood, it was Chill's time to shine as owner Daran Glasgow and partner Leesa Huth accepted no fewer than three major awards.
Chill on Tedder Dining & Wine Bar was named Best Chef-Owner Restaurant and Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant and then topped the night by winning the coveted Restaurant of the Year title.
"I'm delighted," said Mr Glasgow. "We work very hard at pleasing our customers and these awards acknowledge that we are on the right track."
Mr Glasgow twice guided Songbirds in the Forest to major recognition before establishing Chill three years ago.
